Faction Carnival Returns for Fifth Year to Kick Off PrideFest 2025
Perth, WA – Team Perth is thrilled to announce the return of Faction Carnival – a fun-filled, inclusive community sports day celebrating diversity, connection, and pride. Now in its fifth year, Faction Carnival will take place on Saturday, 8 November 2025 at the historic UWA Sports Park, McGillivray Oval in Mount Claremont, the original home of the 1979–1990 Perth Gay Olympics.
A beloved staple of the PrideFest calendar, Faction Carnival brings together LGBTQIA+ individuals, friends, and allies from across the community to participate in classic childhood games, friendly competition, and vibrant faction rivalry. From tunnel ball to the handbag toss, the day promises joy, laughter, and the chance to forge new connections in a welcoming and safe environment.
“We’re so excited to mark five years of this iconic event,” said Justin Barnes, Chair of Team Perth. “Faction Carnival is all about fun, visibility, and community. It’s not about being the fastest or strongest – it’s about showing up, playing together, and celebrating who we are.”
This year’s event will feature:
Up to 150 participants
Classic and quirky games suitable for all abilities
A live DJ spinning beats throughout the day
Support from Pride WA as part of PrideFest 2025
Tickets are just $10.00 + booking fee, with registration closing at 11:59pm on Friday, 31 October 2025. Participants will be assigned to colourful “factions” and are encouraged to dress in their team colour to fully embrace the carnival spirit.
Faction Carnival is proudly organised by Team Perth Incorporated, the peak body for LGBTQIA+ sport and recreation in Western Australia.
