The 2025 Xceed Real Estate LGBTQIA+ Sport Awards, proudly presented by Team Perth, is a brand-new annual celebration of the individuals, clubs, and organisations driving meaningful change in LGBTQIA+ sport across Western Australia.

These awards shine a light on the people and groups who go above and beyond to build safer, more inclusive, and empowering spaces for LGBTQIA+ people in sport, recreation, and active community life.

 

Awards Vision

To recognise, uplift, and celebrate individuals, teams, organisations, and initiatives that have made significant contributions to creating a more inclusive, safer, and welcoming sporting environment for LGBTQIA+ people in Perth and Western Australia.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Look through the categories and if you can think of a deserving person or organisation please fill out the nomination form. As the first awards of it's kind for our local community, we expect to receive an beautiful array of nominations for people and organisations that have made a difference locally. There is also an award for the 'most nominated' individual or organisation called the XCEED Real Estate People's Choice Award. This individual or organisation would also be eligible for their submitted award category. 

The second way you can participate is by directly submitting an award application. You do not need to be nominated to submit for an award. If you, your club, social group or organisation think that you would fit one of the specified award categories we highly encourage your nominations. 

Nominations are not direct submissions. All nominee's will be contacted by Team Perth and asked to submit their own Award Submission ensuring the information we receive is accurate and from them. If individuals do not submit an award submission they unfortunately will not be considered for an award. 

Important Dates:

• Nominations & Submissions Open: Friday 19th September 2025

• Nominations Close: 11:59PM Friday 3rd October 2025

• Award Submission Deadline: 11:59PM  Friday   24th October 2025

• Awards Presentation:  During PrideFEST Club Day, Saturday 22 November 2025

 

What Happens After You Nominate?

Once a person or organisation is nominated:

• They’ll receive an email from Team Perth celebrating their nomination 🎉*

• They’ll be encouraged to submit a formal award entry if they’d like to be considered by our judges *

• Whether or not they submit an entry, they remain eligible for the  XCEED RE's People’s Choice Award

• Additional information you provide may help us determine a winner in the event of a tie

• Every nominee will also receive a Digital Nominee Badge to proudly share and display!

Please note: if a person receives multiple nominations we will only contact them and encourage them to submit an award submission once. Please ensure you fill out their details correctly to help us not contact every time.

Award Categories & Descriptions:
 

1. People’s Choice Award [Individual Award or Organisation Award]
   Celebrating the most nominated individual or organisation across all categories, this award recognises a person whose impact has resonated strongly with the community. Each nomination represents a voice of appreciation—together, they shine a spotlight on someone who inspires, uplifts, and truly embodies inclusion in LGBTQIA+ sport.
    

2. Youth Champion of the Year [Individual Award]
   Recognising a young person (under 25) making significant contributions to LGBTQIA+ inclusivity in sport in Perth and/or WA. This could be through advocacy, participation, volunteering or leadership.
    

3. Team Perth Achievement Award [Individual Award]
   Celebrating an individual’s sustained and long-term contribution to LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport. This individual has had a significant impact on the local community and is likely a life member or longstanding contributor.
    

4. Inclusion Initiative of the Year [Organisation Award]
   Highlighting a specific project, program, policy or campaign that has driven positive change for LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport. Eligible nominees include clubs, sports bodies, events or external organisations.
    

5. Volunteer of the Year [Individual Award]
   Acknowledging an outstanding volunteer who gives their time and energy to LGBTQIA+ sport and recreation. This person helps drive community, connection, and inclusivity through consistent, passionate involvement.
    

6. Event of the Year [Organisation Award]
   Recognising an event that has showcased best practice in LGBTQIA+ inclusion, visibility and celebration. This could be a tournament, Pride round, social event, or community sporting celebration. The event needs to be connected to LGBTQIA+ sport or creating impact in sport inclusion.
    

7. Visibility in Media Award [Individual Award or Organisation Award]
   For individuals or campaigns that have amplified LGBTQIA+ sporting voices, issues, or achievements through media, journalism, storytelling, or content creation in Perth and/or WA.
    

8. President or Club Leader of the Year [Individual Award]
   Honouring a club leader who demonstrates exceptional dedication to inclusivity, community building, and forward-thinking leadership within their organisation/club and/or social group.
    

9. Team Perth LGBTQIA+ Club of 2025 [Organisation Award]
   Awarded to a 'Team Perth Member Club' that exemplifies inclusion, visibility, and community spirit. This club actively encourages diversity, empowers participation, and creates a safe space for all identities.
    

10. Ally Award [Individual Award or Organisation Award]
    Recognising a non-LGBTQIA+ individual, organisation, or group that has made a significant contribution to LGBTQIA+ sporting inclusion. Their actions demonstrate meaningful support, advocacy and positive impact.
